Healthy Revenue Momentum, Expanding Paid Campaigns and Leadership Transition Signal Improving Business Outlook Despite Margin Pressure

Shares of Just Dial Ltd. surged nearly 15% on Monday after the company reported an encouraging set of first-quarter earnings for FY27, delivering its strongest sequential revenue growth in nearly a decade outside the immediate post-pandemic recovery period. The robust performance, coupled with improving business metrics and a major leadership transition, sparked renewed investor interest in the internet services company.

The stock climbed to an intraday high of ₹645.65, witnessing heavy trading volumes and significantly outperforming the broader market. Investors welcomed the company's improving operational momentum, supported by higher paid campaigns, stronger pricing, and continued investments in technology.

Strong Revenue Growth Highlights Business Recovery

Just Dial reported revenue of ₹327.5 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, representing a 9.9% year-on-year (YoY) increase. More importantly, revenue grew 6.6% sequentially, marking the company's fastest quarter-on-quarter expansion in almost ten years, excluding the extraordinary rebound seen after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Management attributed the growth to disciplined execution across its core local search business, improved customer engagement, and continuous enhancement of its digital platform. The company believes investments made over the past few years are beginning to generate measurable business benefits.

Profitability Remains Healthy Despite Higher Investments

Net profit increased 4.1% YoY to ₹166.2 crore, while EBITDA stood at ₹87.4 crore, translating into an EBITDA margin of 26.7%.

Although operating margins softened compared to last year due to increased employee costs and higher marketing expenditure, analysts view the investments positively as they are intended to support future customer acquisition, platform development, and long-term revenue growth.

Additionally, higher treasury income resulting from mark-to-market gains on investments provided further support to quarterly profitability.

User Base and Paid Campaigns Continue to Expand

Operational metrics reflected continued business expansion during the quarter.

Total active listings increased 13% YoY to 56.1 million, indicating healthy participation from businesses across the platform. Active paid campaigns rose 3.5% annually to more than 639,000, while quarterly website and app traffic improved on a sequential basis, highlighting stable customer engagement.

The company continues to strengthen its presence across desktop, mobile applications, and voice-based search services, while investing in artificial intelligence and automation to improve user experience and lead generation for businesses.

Technology Investments Begin Delivering Results

Management said sustained investments in technology are now translating into tangible commercial outcomes. Product enhancements, improved search algorithms, better merchant tools, and enhanced customer interfaces have helped improve monetisation while supporting higher campaign renewals.

Industry experts believe the company's digital transformation strategy positions it well to capitalise on the increasing adoption of online local search services by both consumers and small businesses.

Leadership Transition Marks a New Chapter

The quarter also marked an important leadership milestone for Just Dial.

Founder VSS Mani, who established the company and built it into one of India's leading local search platforms, will step down as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer effective July 31, 2026.

Former Flipkart executive Dinkar Ayilavarapu will assume the role of CEO from August 1, 2026, while Dinesh Taluja has been appointed as the company's new Chief Financial Officer.

Brokerages believe the transition could bring fresh strategic direction, strengthen execution capabilities, and accelerate product innovation under the company's next phase of growth.

Analysts See Improving Fundamentals

Market analysts noted that revenue growth was supported by better pricing, healthy campaign additions, and improving collections, even as web traffic remained broadly stable.

Brokerages believe continued investments in technology, combined with disciplined execution and operational improvements, could help the company deliver stronger earnings growth over the coming quarters. Greater clarity around the new management team's strategic priorities is also expected to improve investor confidence.

Opportunities and Key Risks

The company's long-term growth outlook remains supported by increasing digitisation among small and medium businesses, rising internet penetration, and growing demand for hyperlocal digital advertising.

However, Just Dial continues to operate in a highly competitive market where global technology companies, online marketplaces, maps, and social media platforms are aggressively expanding local business discovery services. Sustaining user engagement, improving paid conversions, and maintaining pricing power will remain critical for long-term success.

Investment Outlook

The latest quarterly performance indicates that Just Dial is gradually strengthening its operating fundamentals after a period of subdued growth. While margin pressures may persist as the company continues investing in technology and marketing, improving revenue momentum, expanding merchant participation, and a refreshed leadership team provide encouraging signals for investors.

Going forward, sustained growth in paid campaigns, successful execution of digital initiatives, and effective leadership transition will remain the key drivers that determine whether the company can deliver a meaningful re-rating in its valuation over the medium term.
