RITES Ltd, the Navratna public sector enterprise specializing in transport consultancy and engineering, witnessed a sharp rally in its share price on Wednesday after announcing a major infrastructure project worth ₹175.41 crore. The stock climbed more than 11% during intraday trade as investors cheered the fresh order win, while trading volumes surged to more than 10 times the daily average, indicating strong institutional and retail participation.

The rally comes at a time when the company is sitting on its highest-ever order book, reinforcing confidence in its medium-term earnings visibility and growth prospects.

RITES Shares Rally on Strong Buying Momentum

RITES shares touched an intraday high of ₹231 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), rising over 12% from the previous close. At the same time, the benchmark BSE Sensex was trading with only modest gains, highlighting the stock's significant outperformance.

Market data showed that more than 28 million equity shares changed hands across the NSE and BSE during the first half of the trading session. This represented approximately 5.8% of the company's outstanding equity, reflecting exceptional investor interest following the project announcement.

Analysts noted that the sharp increase in volume suggests fresh buying from institutional investors alongside strong retail participation.

₹175 Crore Project to Strengthen Infrastructure at BBAU

RITES informed stock exchanges that it has secured a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) for planning, designing and developing various infrastructure facilities across the university campus.

The project carries an estimated value of ₹175.41 crore, excluding GST, including consultancy fees payable to RITES.

According to the company, the assignment includes:

  • Planning and master infrastructure development

  • Engineering design and consultancy

  • Project supervision and execution management

  • Development of additional campus facilities

The contract will be executed over an initial period of 30 months, or until completion of the assigned work, whichever is later.

This order further strengthens RITES' position as one of India's leading project management consultants for government-backed infrastructure projects.

Record Order Book Provides Strong Revenue Visibility

The latest project adds to an already impressive order pipeline.

During the January–March quarter of FY26, RITES secured more than 120 new orders and project extensions with a combined value exceeding ₹958 crore.

As of March 31, 2026, the company's total order book stood at a record ₹9,416 crore, providing healthy revenue visibility over the next two to three years.

A robust order book is a key indicator for engineering consultancy companies, ensuring a steady flow of projects, predictable revenue generation and improved operational planning.

Management Targets "Disruptive Growth" in FY27

While announcing its fourth-quarter FY26 earnings, the management emphasized that the company has successfully completed its business restructuring and consolidation phase.

With operational efficiencies now in place, FY27 is expected to focus on accelerated expansion across consultancy, exports, project execution and engineering services.

The company believes increasing government investments in railway modernization, urban infrastructure, logistics parks, highways and educational institutions will create significant opportunities for future growth.
