Strong Buying Across FMCG, Auto and Broader Markets Lifts Investor Sentiment Despite Global Uncertainty

Indian equity benchmarks traded firmly in positive territory during Wednesday's morning session, supported by strong buying in FMCG, automobile and media stocks. The upbeat domestic sentiment helped offset concerns surrounding the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran, while encouraging June auto sales figures further boosted investor confidence.

At around 10:00 AM, the BSE Sensex was trading 387.20 points higher, or 0.51%, at 76,865.87, while the NSE Nifty50 gained 115.05 points, or 0.48%, to 23,980.80, comfortably reclaiming the psychologically important 23,950 level.

Broader Markets Continue Their Positive Momentum

The broader market also witnessed healthy participation from investors. The Nifty MidCap index traded about 0.21% higher, while the Nifty SmallCap index advanced 0.41%, indicating continued interest in mid- and small-cap stocks. Market breadth remained positive, suggesting that buying was spread across multiple sectors rather than being concentrated in a few heavyweight stocks.

FMCG Stocks Lead Sectoral Rally

Among sectoral indices, Nifty FMCG emerged as the best performer, rising more than 1% during the session. Investors accumulated defensive consumer stocks amid expectations of stable demand and improving rural consumption.

Leading the FMCG rally were Dabur India, Nestlé India, and Emami, all of which posted healthy gains. The Nifty Auto and Nifty Media indices also traded firmly in the green, while the Nifty Metal index was the only major sector to witness selling pressure due to weakness in global commodity prices.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan and Eternal Among Top Gainers

Within the Nifty50 pack, Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan Company, and Eternal emerged as the top-performing stocks. Buying interest in automobile shares strengthened after several manufacturers reported robust June sales numbers, reflecting sustained domestic demand and improving export performance.

Auto Sales Boost Market Confidence

Automobile companies reported encouraging monthly sales data that reinforced optimism about the sector.

Mahindra & Mahindra posted a 37% year-on-year increase in total June sales, crossing 1.06 lakh units, while exports more than doubled to 5,918 units compared with the same month last year.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India reported a 35% rise in total sales to 2.42 lakh units, with exports increasing 34% to 41,914 units, highlighting continued strength in overseas demand.

Escorts Kubota also delivered a solid performance, reporting a 19% increase in total sales to 13,695 units, while exports rose 4.4% year-on-year.

The strong sales figures indicate resilient consumer demand and improving business conditions for the automobile industry despite global economic uncertainties.

Primary Market Remains Active with Multiple IPOs

The primary market continued to attract investor attention with several public issues open for subscription.

Knack Packaging Limited launched its initial public offering, aiming to raise ₹439.5 crore from investors.

In the SME segment, IPOs of Kratikal Tech, Vinit Mobile, Sampark India Logistics, Seemax Resources, Atharva Polyplast, and Teja Engineering Industries entered their second day of subscription.

Meanwhile, Aastha Spintex IPO and Adon Agro Commodities IPO reached their final day of bidding, giving investors one last opportunity to participate.

Global Developments Remain on Investors' Radar

Despite the positive domestic momentum, investors continue to closely monitor geopolitical developments involving the United States and Iran, as any escalation could impact global crude oil prices, inflation expectations, and foreign institutional investment flows.

Market participants are also awaiting additional macroeconomic data, corporate earnings announcements, and policy developments that could influence market direction in the coming weeks.

Outlook

Indian equities remain supported by strong domestic fundamentals, healthy corporate activity, and encouraging sector-specific developments. If buying momentum continues and global uncertainties remain contained, benchmark indices could extend their gains in the near term. However, investors are advised to remain cautious amid geopolitical risks and continue focusing on fundamentally strong companies while maintaining a diversified investment approach.
