Realty, Auto and Financial Stocks Lead Gains; Lower Crude Prices Boost Investor Sentiment

Indian equity markets witnessed a strong rebound on Monday, with benchmark indices posting impressive gains after reports of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran eased geopolitical concerns and improved global risk appetite. Investors cheered the development, driving buying activity across sectors and lifting market sentiment significantly.

At around 2 PM, the BSE Sensex surged more than 900 points to trade above 76,450, while the NSE Nifty50 climbed over 1.2 percent to cross the 23,900 mark. The rally was broad-based, with mid-cap and small-cap stocks also participating strongly in the uptrend.

Peace Agreement Eases Energy Supply Concerns

The announcement of a ceasefire and peace deal between Washington and Tehran has reduced fears of prolonged disruptions in global energy markets. Market participants welcomed the reopening of critical shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil transit corridors.

As tensions eased, international crude oil prices declined sharply. Brent crude futures fell more than 3 percent, offering relief to energy-importing economies such as India. Lower crude prices are expected to support economic growth by reducing inflationary pressures and improving corporate profitability.

Realty and Auto Stocks Drive Market Higher

Among sectoral indices, real estate, automobile and financial services stocks emerged as the biggest gainers. Investors increased exposure to these sectors amid expectations that lower energy costs and improved economic stability could support consumer spending and business activity.

Automobile companies witnessed strong buying interest for the second consecutive session. Market experts believe that lower fuel costs and easing global uncertainties may positively impact vehicle demand and manufacturing costs in the coming months.

Financial stocks also advanced as improved market sentiment and expectations of stable macroeconomic conditions encouraged investors to accumulate banking and non-banking finance companies.

Broader Markets Join the Rally

The positive sentiment extended beyond large-cap stocks. Both the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices gained around 1.5 percent, indicating widespread participation across the market.

Strong performance in broader markets reflects growing investor confidence and renewed interest in domestic growth stories. Analysts noted that easing geopolitical risks have encouraged investors to return to riskier assets after weeks of uncertainty.

Corporate Developments Add Momentum

Several company-specific announcements further supported market sentiment during the session. Infrastructure, defence, renewable energy and technology companies reported fresh business orders and expansion plans, attracting investor attention.

Defence and engineering firms benefited from new project announcements, while renewable energy companies gained after securing large supply contracts. Meanwhile, optimism surrounding potential capital market activity, including developments related to the proposed public offering of India's largest stock exchange, added to the positive market mood.

Impact on Currency and Inflation Outlook

The decline in crude oil prices is also expected to support the Indian rupee and ease imported inflation pressures. Lower energy costs can help reduce the country's trade deficit while giving policymakers greater flexibility in managing interest rates and economic growth.

Economists believe that if crude prices remain under control, India could witness improved macroeconomic stability in the second half of the year, benefiting both businesses and consumers.

Market Outlook

Market participants will continue to monitor global geopolitical developments, crude oil movements and upcoming economic data for further direction. While volatility may persist, the easing of geopolitical tensions has significantly improved near-term sentiment.

Analysts believe that sustained foreign inflows, stable commodity prices and positive corporate earnings could provide additional support to Indian equities in the coming weeks. If global conditions remain favourable, the current rally may continue to strengthen across both benchmark and broader market indices.
