India's largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has announced a strategic global partnership with Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude family of AI models.

50,000 Employees to Gain Access to Claude AI as TCS Expands Its Artificial Intelligence Capabilities Across Global Operations

India's largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has announced a strategic global partnership with Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude family of AI models. The collaboration marks a significant step in TCS' efforts to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and help organizations transform their operations through advanced generative AI technologies.

As part of the agreement, TCS will establish a dedicated business unit focused exclusively on developing AI-powered solutions, industry-specific applications, and consulting services built around Anthropic's Claude models. The move is expected to strengthen TCS' position in the rapidly growing enterprise AI market while providing clients with access to next-generation AI capabilities.

TCS to Equip 50,000 Employees with Claude AI

A major component of the partnership involves deploying Claude AI across TCS' workforce. The company plans to provide enterprise-wide access to approximately 50,000 employees working in engineering, finance, legal, marketing, sales, and other business functions.

By integrating AI tools into its own operations, TCS aims to gain firsthand experience in using generative AI at scale. The company believes these internal learnings will help it develop more effective AI transformation strategies for clients across industries.

The initiative follows TCS' broader push toward AI adoption. Earlier, the company expanded access to Microsoft 365 Copilot for 100,000 employees, highlighting its commitment to embedding AI into everyday business processes.

Focus on Highly Regulated Industries

The partnership is expected to be particularly valuable for industries where compliance, security, and accuracy are critical. TCS and Anthropic will jointly develop AI solutions for sectors including financial services, healthcare, life sciences, public services, aviation, telecommunications, and medical technology.

Many organizations in these industries have struggled to move AI projects beyond pilot stages due to strict regulatory requirements and concerns surrounding governance, transparency, and reliability. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to address those challenges by delivering enterprise-grade AI solutions designed for high-trust environments.

TCS CEO and Managing Director K. Krithivasan said the future value of AI lies not only in powerful models but also in understanding business context, integrating complex systems, and applying engineering expertise to deliver measurable outcomes.

Joint Development of Industry-Specific AI Solutions

Beyond employee adoption, TCS and Anthropic will work together to create industry-focused AI offerings that improve workflow automation, customer experience, software development, and business modernization efforts.

The companies plan to combine Anthropic's advanced AI technology with TCS' consulting, engineering, and managed services capabilities. This approach is expected to help enterprises accelerate AI deployment while reducing implementation complexity.

Several TCS platforms and products will also incorporate Claude AI. In the United Kingdom, Diligenta, TCS' life and pensions administration business, intends to use Claude to enhance customer service and streamline operational processes. Meanwhile, teams working on banking, financial services, and insurance products are expected to leverage Claude Code to improve software engineering productivity and IT operations.

Strengthening India's AI Ecosystem

The partnership also carries significant implications for India's AI talent development ecosystem. TCS iON, the company's digital assessment and learning platform, plans to introduce training and certification programs focused on Claude models.

Given that TCS iON conducts more than 75 million assessments annually across India, the initiative could contribute significantly to building an AI-ready workforce and improving industry-relevant digital skills among students and professionals.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei described India as one of the company's most important growth markets and emphasized that the partnership would expand access to trusted and reliable AI solutions across enterprises in India and globally.

Strategic Significance for the Tata Group

Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said the partnership reflects a shared vision that artificial intelligence will become a foundational technology for businesses worldwide. By combining Anthropic's AI capabilities with the Tata Group's scale, customer relationships, and long-standing reputation, the collaboration aims to accelerate enterprise transformation while supporting the development of future-ready talent.

As businesses increasingly invest in AI-driven innovation, the TCS-Anthropic alliance positions both companies to capitalize on growing demand for secure, scalable, and enterprise-grade AI solutions. The partnership also reinforces India's emerging role as a major hub for AI adoption, innovation, and workforce development.
