Shares surge 79% above IPO price as strong Q1 earnings, a ₹2,026 crore order book and higher-voltage transformer capabilities fuel investor interest

Kanohar Electricals continued its sharp post-listing rally on Wednesday, with the newly listed transformer manufacturer jumping as much as 20 per cent on the BSE to a fresh high of ₹1,129.35. The stock witnessed exceptionally heavy trading volumes as investors responded to strong first-quarter financial performance and improving visibility for future growth.

The company’s shares have now climbed around 79 per cent from the initial public offering (IPO) price of ₹632. Kanohar Electricals made its stock market debut on September 16, 2026, meaning the stock has delivered a substantial gain in just three weeks.

At around 11:13 AM on Wednesday, the stock was trading nearly 17 per cent higher at ₹1,097.25, even as the broader BSE Sensex was down around 0.16 per cent. Combined trading volumes on the NSE and BSE stood at around 16.86 million shares, more than three times the stock's average trading activity.

Strong Q1 Performance Provides the Immediate Trigger

The latest rally follows Kanohar Electricals’ strong financial performance for the quarter ended June 2026.

The company reported a 140 per cent year-on-year increase in profit after tax (PAT) to ₹27 crore in Q1FY27, compared with ₹11 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Revenue from operations more than doubled, rising 104 per cent year-on-year to ₹137 crore from ₹67 crore.

Operating performance also improved significantly. EBITDA margin expanded to 28.3 per cent from 22.8 per cent a year earlier, indicating that the growth was accompanied by stronger profitability rather than being driven purely by higher sales volumes.

Management attributed the improvement to increased manufacturing activity and a favourable product mix, with a higher contribution from the company’s 400kV transformer business.

400kV Transformers Emerge as a Key Growth Driver

One of the most important developments in Kanohar Electricals’ latest performance is the growing contribution from higher-voltage transformers.

Around 70 per cent of the company's Q1 revenue came from 400kV transformers. The shift towards technically more complex and higher-value products is significant because it can improve the quality of revenue and potentially support operating margins as the company moves up the value chain.

Kanohar Electricals operates across transformer manufacturing and EPC services for substations and transmission lines, with exposure to power transmission, railways, renewable energy and power distribution.

The company is also among the limited number of Indian manufacturers with short-circuit test certification for 500 MVA, 400kV transformers used in power transmission. Its capabilities also include 100 MVA, 220kV Scott-connected transformers used for railway network electrification.

₹2,026 Crore Order Book Offers Revenue Visibility

Another major factor behind the investor interest is Kanohar Electricals’ sizeable order book.

The company closed Q1FY27 with an outstanding order book of ₹2,026 crore, which is expected to be executed over the next 18–24 months. During the quarter, it secured incremental orders worth ₹332.30 crore.

The order book provides considerable revenue visibility and gives investors greater confidence that the recent growth in the business can continue beyond a single strong quarter.

The company has also provided FY27 revenue guidance of ₹950 crore. Against this target, the existing order book represents a substantial pipeline of potential future revenue.

765kV Capability Could Become the Next Big Catalyst

While 400kV transformers are currently driving the business, investors are increasingly focusing on Kanohar Electricals’ ability to manufacture 765kV transformers.

The company has already developed the manufacturing capability for this higher-voltage category and is working towards securing suitable orders.

The successful conversion of this capability into commercial orders could represent an important step-up for the business. Higher-voltage transformers are more technically demanding and can potentially move the company further towards higher-value products.

However, the key uncertainty is order conversion. Merely having manufacturing capability does not guarantee immediate revenue contribution. The pace at which the company wins and executes 765kV orders will therefore be closely watched by investors.

Capacity Expansion Adds to the Growth Story

Kanohar Electricals is also pursuing a brownfield expansion at Gangol to increase manufacturing capacity.

The expansion becomes particularly important as the company attempts to execute its existing order book while simultaneously pursuing larger and more technically sophisticated orders.

If capacity comes on stream as planned and demand remains strong, the expansion could allow the company to increase revenue without compromising execution quality.

For a transformer manufacturer, capacity availability is an important competitive factor because strong demand across power transmission, renewable energy, railways and grid infrastructure can translate into longer order pipelines.

Power Infrastructure Cycle Supports the Business

Kanohar Electricals is benefiting from a broader structural opportunity in India's power infrastructure ecosystem.

The expansion of transmission networks, renewable power capacity, grid modernisation, railway electrification and electricity distribution infrastructure is supporting demand for transformers and related equipment.

The increasing integration of renewable energy into the electricity grid is also creating additional requirements for transmission and substation infrastructure.

For transformer manufacturers, this creates an opportunity for sustained order inflows. However, the ability to capture this opportunity will depend on manufacturing capacity, technology, execution capability and the company's ability to maintain margins.

What Is Driving the 79% Post-Listing Rally?

The sharp appreciation in Kanohar Electricals shares appears to reflect a combination of factors rather than a single trigger.

Strong earnings: Q1FY27 PAT increased 140 per cent, while revenue more than doubled.

Margin expansion: EBITDA margin improved to 28.3 per cent from 22.8 per cent.

Large order book: The ₹2,026 crore order book provides visibility for the next 18–24 months.

Higher-voltage mix: Around 70 per cent of Q1 revenue came from 400kV transformers.

765kV opportunity: The company has developed manufacturing capabilities for 765kV transformers, creating a potential future growth trigger.

Capacity expansion: The Gangol brownfield expansion could support higher production and order execution.

Post-IPO momentum: With the company listed only around three weeks ago, strong financial results have amplified investor interest in the newly available stock.

Valuation and Sustainability Become the Next Questions

The sharp rise in the share price also changes the nature of the investment debate.

The stock's 79 per cent gain from its IPO price means expectations have risen significantly in a short period. Strong earnings and order-book visibility provide fundamental support, but the market will now look for continued growth to justify the higher valuation.

The key factors to monitor will be the pace of order execution, sustainability of EBITDA margins, fresh order inflows, capacity expansion and the conversion of 765kV capabilities into actual contracts.

Any slowdown in execution or margin pressure could lead to greater volatility, particularly after such a rapid post-listing rally.

Market Outlook

Kanohar Electricals has delivered a strong start as a listed company, supported by robust Q1FY27 earnings, a sizeable order book and increasing exposure to high-voltage transformer products.

The immediate growth story remains attractive because the ₹2,026 crore order book provides visibility and the company is operating in sectors linked to India's power and infrastructure investment cycle. The potential entry into 765kV transformer orders could provide another leg of growth if the company successfully converts its technical capabilities into meaningful contracts.

However, after a nearly 79 per cent rise from the IPO price in just three weeks, expectations are significantly higher. Going forward, earnings growth, order wins, margin sustainability and execution will become more important than the initial post-listing momentum.

For the stock, the next meaningful re-rating is therefore likely to depend on whether Kanohar Electricals can translate its strong order pipeline and higher-voltage capabilities into sustained revenue and profitability growth.
