Strong Q1 performance, rising transformer-oil demand and premium lubricant opportunities have put Savita Oil Technologies in focus, while ICICI Securities sees further earnings growth and a ₹950 target

Stock rallies sharply as investors track earnings momentum

Savita Oil Technologies has emerged as one of the standout performers in the specialty petroleum and lubricant space, with its share price gaining around 200 per cent over the past nine months. The stock extended its rally on September 30, climbing as much as 20 per cent intraday to touch a fresh high of ₹862.80 on the BSE before paring some gains.

The sharp move comes despite broader market weakness. In September alone, the stock had gained around 25 per cent, while the BSE Sensex declined about 5.6 per cent over the same period. Over the previous nine months, Savita Oil Technologies gained roughly 200 per cent compared with a decline of nearly 15 per cent in the benchmark index.

At around 9:32 AM on Wednesday, the stock was quoted about 8 per cent higher at ₹777.35, with exceptionally strong trading activity. Around 2 million shares changed hands across the BSE and NSE during the first 17 minutes of trade, highlighting the intensity of investor participation.

The stock later remained volatile, with market data showing a 52-week range of roughly ₹285.80 to ₹860.40.

Record Q1 performance strengthens the growth story

A major catalyst behind the recent re-rating has been Savita Oil Technologies' exceptionally strong June 2026 quarter.

The company reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹1,479.76 crore in Q1FY27, representing a 49.6 per cent year-on-year increase. Net profit surged to ₹288.06 crore, up more than four times from ₹55.95 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Profit before tax jumped to ₹386.61 crore, compared with ₹72.00 crore approximately a year earlier, while operating profit rose sharply to ₹363.82 crore. The company's earnings performance was also substantially stronger sequentially, with revenue increasing nearly 21 per cent from the March quarter and net profit rising more than five times.

Moneycontrol data similarly shows Q1FY27 revenue at around ₹1,479 crore and net profit at ₹288 crore, with year-on-year growth of 49.6 per cent and 414.8 per cent, respectively.

The magnitude of the profit improvement has become an important factor behind the stock's sharp re-rating.

Transformer oils and specialty petroleum products remain key drivers

Savita Oil Technologies operates across specialty petroleum products and lubricating oils, with transformer oils, white and mineral oils, formulated specialty products, automotive lubricants and industrial lubricants forming important parts of its portfolio.

The company's petroleum products segment generated ₹1,482.45 crore of revenue in Q1FY27, up 50.85 per cent year-on-year. The wind-power business, although much smaller, also contributed to consolidated performance.

The transformer-oil business is particularly important because of the increasing investment required for power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure.

India's expansion of renewable-energy capacity is also creating additional requirements for grid infrastructure. Solar and wind projects need transmission systems to evacuate power, while grid expansion and modernisation require additional transformers and associated insulating fluids.

Shift towards premium and ester-based fluids

Another structural opportunity lies in the industry's move towards higher-performance transformer and industrial fluids.

Savita has been expanding its portfolio beyond conventional mineral-based products into natural ester and synthetic ester fluids. These products can offer advantages in areas such as fire safety, environmental performance and operational efficiency, making them relevant for applications where reliability and sustainability are becoming increasingly important.

The company's product-development initiatives also extend into emerging applications such as electric vehicles, battery energy-storage systems and immersion cooling.

Earlier company disclosures highlighted growing customer interest in immersion-cooling fluids for EV applications and the development of fluids for energy-storage systems and data-centre applications. These businesses are still at an early stage, but they could potentially broaden the company's addressable market over time.

Capacity and volume growth provide another support

Savita Oil Technologies has a diversified manufacturing footprint, with capacity spread across four units and exposure to multiple end-user industries.

ICICI Direct's research notes that the company had total capacity of roughly 5.5 lakh tonnes across its manufacturing facilities and recorded significant volume growth during FY26. The brokerage also highlighted the company's exposure to power and distribution transformers, cosmetics and healthcare, as well as automotive and industrial lubricants.

This diversification is important because it reduces dependence on a single end market and gives the company an opportunity to benefit from different demand cycles.

Feedstock volatility remains a key risk

Despite the strong earnings trajectory, the business remains exposed to movements in crude oil and refined-product prices.

The company has previously highlighted sharp movements in crude and refined-product prices, tightening supply conditions and volatility in feedstock availability. Such changes can affect input costs, inventory valuation and margins.

The West Asia conflict also created logistical and supply-chain uncertainties, particularly around the availability of feedstock and port operations. While volumes subsequently started normalising, continued geopolitical disruptions remain an external risk for specialty petroleum-product manufacturers.

For investors, the key issue will be whether Savita can continue passing higher input costs through to customers while maintaining healthy volumes and margins.

ICICI Securities sees further earnings growth

ICICI Securities remains positive on the company's medium-term growth prospects.

According to the brokerage, Savita Oil Technologies is positioned to benefit from strong demand for transformer oils and industrial lubricants. It also expects the company's focus on premium products to improve realisations and support profitability.

ICICI Securities expects revenue to grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 32 per cent between FY26 and FY28E. EBITDA and profit after tax are projected to grow at approximately 41 per cent CAGR over the same period.

The brokerage has retained a Buy rating and raised its target price to ₹950, based on an 18x price-to-earnings multiple applied to its FY28E earnings estimates.

The ₹950 target is an analyst estimate rather than a guaranteed future price, and the stock's sharp recent appreciation means valuation and earnings execution will remain important factors.

Stock re-rating raises the importance of valuation

The biggest change in Savita's investment profile has been the rapid rise in its market value.

The stock has moved from the ₹300-400 zone earlier in the year to levels above ₹800, substantially changing the valuation equation. ICICI Securities' August research had a target of ₹950 against a reference price of ₹775, implying that the brokerage continued to see upside even after the stock's substantial rally.

However, after a 200 per cent nine-month gain, expectations embedded in the share price are considerably higher than they were previously. Any slowdown in earnings growth, margin compression, weaker lubricant demand or adverse movement in crude-linked input costs could therefore lead to increased volatility.

What investors should track going ahead

The next phase of the company's story will depend on whether the exceptional Q1 numbers can be sustained.

Investors will particularly track transformer-oil volumes, industrial lubricant demand, export growth, premium-product mix, raw-material costs and operating margins. Progress in ester-based fluids and newer applications such as energy storage and immersion cooling could provide additional long-term growth avenues.

At the same time, the stock's substantial re-rating means that quarterly earnings delivery will become increasingly important for supporting the valuation.

Market Outlook

Savita Oil Technologies has benefited from a combination of strong earnings, improving demand for transformer and specialty oils, premium-product expansion and favourable structural trends in power infrastructure and renewable-energy integration.

The Q1FY27 numbers provide strong evidence of operating momentum, with revenue up nearly 50 per cent and net profit rising more than fourfold year-on-year.

However, the stock's approximately 200 per cent nine-month rally also raises the bar for future performance. The ₹950 ICICI Securities target provides one analyst reference point, but investors should also consider valuation, commodity-price volatility, margin sustainability and the ability of newer premium products to scale.

The key question for the market is therefore no longer simply whether Savita can grow, but whether its earnings can continue expanding rapidly enough to support the significant re-rating already reflected in the share price.
