Eternal shares hit an 11-month high of ₹339.80 as heavy volumes and improving profitability expectations support the stock; Blinkit, food delivery and District remain key growth drivers

Eternal Ltd, the parent company of Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure and District, extended its recent rally on Tuesday, with the stock touching an 11-month high of ₹339.80 on the BSE. The shares gained around 1.4 per cent during intraday trading and advanced for the fifth consecutive session, taking the cumulative five-session gain to nearly 8 per cent.

The latest move has pushed Eternal significantly higher from its 52-week low of ₹212.55, recorded on March 16, 2026. From that level, the stock has gained approximately 60 per cent.

The rally has come amid heavy trading volumes and continued investor attention on the company's medium-term growth and profitability outlook across food delivery, quick commerce and its emerging going-out business.

Stock Approaches Previous Record High

Eternal's latest high of ₹339.80 represents its strongest level since October 2025. The stock's previous record high was ₹368.40 on October 16, 2025.

At around 12:20 PM on Tuesday, the shares were trading approximately 1 per cent higher at ₹338.40, even as the BSE Sensex was down around 0.27 per cent.

Trading activity was also elevated, with the combined volume on the NSE and BSE reaching approximately 14.31 million shares, around 1.5 times the average volume cited in the report.

The divergence between the broader market and Eternal's stock indicates continued stock-specific interest around the company's growth prospects.

Five Straight Sessions of Gains

Eternal has now recorded gains in five consecutive trading sessions, with the stock appreciating almost 8 per cent during the period.

The broader recovery has been considerably stronger when measured from the March low. The approximately 60 per cent rise from ₹212.55 reflects a substantial rebound from the stock's 2026 trough.

Despite the recovery, the stock remains below its October 2025 record high, leaving investors focused on whether improving operating metrics can support the valuation as the company approaches its previous peak.

Management Maintains 20% Medium-Term Growth View

At the Jefferies Forum, Eternal's management maintained its expectation of approximately 20 per cent medium-term growth.

The company sees opportunities from demographic changes, rising incomes and evolving consumer behaviour, including increasing acceptance of food delivery and convenience-led consumption.

Management believes the company's expanding total addressable market can support growth across its different businesses.

The strategy is increasingly built around multiple consumer platforms rather than relying solely on the traditional food-delivery business.

Blinkit Remains a Major Growth Engine

Quick-commerce platform Blinkit remains one of the most important growth drivers for Eternal.

Management highlighted assortment depth, hyperlocal inventory and reliable delivery as key differentiators for the platform.

The company has also been seeing traction in Tier-II, Tier-III and smaller markets, where quick commerce can provide consumers with access to a wider range of products than may be available through local retail channels.

The expansion of the store network has supported NOV growth, while improving contribution margins are becoming increasingly important to the business model.

Competitive Intensity and Profitability

Competition remains an important factor for the quick-commerce industry.

Eternal management acknowledged that competitive discounting can periodically intensify, but indicated that consumer behaviour is increasingly influenced by factors such as product availability and delivery reliability rather than pricing alone.

This could become important for the industry's long-term economics.

If platforms can retain customers through service quality and assortment rather than heavy discounting, companies could potentially reduce promotional intensity and improve unit economics.

5-6% Adjusted EBITDA Margin Target

Eternal has retained its long-term guidance for 5-6 per cent adjusted EBITDA margins, measured against net order value.

Management expects margin improvement to be supported by factors including higher take rates as categories expand, inflation-led growth in average order value and operating leverage.

Importantly, the company does not consider higher order values alone to be a prerequisite for margin expansion.

This places greater emphasis on improving the economics of each transaction and increasing efficiency as the platform scales.

Food Delivery Business Remains Resilient

Eternal's food-delivery business also continues to be an important component of the overall platform.

According to the Elara Capital assessment cited in the report, food-delivery growth remained resilient during Q1FY27 despite disruptions linked to LPG availability in the food industry.

Adjusted EBITDA margins improved during the quarter, helped by lower fixed costs per order.

The ability to maintain growth while improving operating efficiency will remain important as the food-delivery business matures.

District Provides Another Growth Opportunity

Eternal's District platform represents another potential source of long-term growth.

The business covers the broader going-out ecosystem, including restaurants, movies, sports and concerts.

Management views the segment as an underpenetrated market where supply aggregation and improved discovery could help unlock latent consumer demand.

Unlike food delivery and quick commerce, District gives Eternal exposure to discretionary spending associated with entertainment and experiences.

Its contribution to the overall business remains a key area to monitor as the platform scales.

AI Emerging as a Cost-Efficiency Tool

Artificial intelligence is also becoming part of Eternal's operating strategy.

Management indicated that AI is currently being deployed primarily as a cost-efficiency tool, while larger revenue opportunities are expected to emerge over time.

The company believes its platform scale and supply-chain capabilities could position it for the development of agentic-commerce applications.

Better discovery, recommendations and automated interactions could eventually influence how consumers search for products and services.

However, the financial contribution from these applications remains a longer-term opportunity rather than an established earnings driver.

Elara Capital Highlights Execution as Key

Elara Capital's post-Q1 assessment cited continued growth in food delivery and strong quick-commerce performance, while noting that quick-commerce growth could gradually normalise as the pace of new-store additions moderates.

The brokerage also highlighted lower promotional intensity, advertising monetisation, operating leverage and higher order frequency as potential drivers of the next phase of profitability.

Elara Capital retained its Buy rating and ₹400 target price, according to the supplied report. This is the brokerage's view and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed future price.

The brokerage also noted that sustained execution on profitability would be important for the company's medium-term valuation.

Advertising Could Become a Larger Profit Driver

Advertising is another important component of Eternal's business model.

The brokerage's analysis highlighted Blinkit's advertising revenue as a significant opportunity and estimated that it could potentially contribute around ₹2,000 crore to EBITDA by FY28, assuming current unit economics remain broadly intact.

The development of advertising as a high-margin revenue stream could become increasingly relevant as quick-commerce platforms accumulate large and frequent consumer traffic.

However, the eventual contribution will depend on advertiser demand, monetisation rates, consumer engagement and the company's ability to expand advertising without negatively affecting user experience.

Valuation and Execution Remain Important

Eternal's sharp recovery from its March low has increased investor attention on valuation.

As the stock approaches its previous record levels, future performance will increasingly depend on whether operating growth and profitability improvements can justify the market's expectations.

The company's different businesses are also at different stages of development. Food delivery is a relatively mature platform, Blinkit is still expanding its network and economics, while District represents a newer opportunity.

This creates both diversification and execution requirements for the company.

Key Factors to Watch

Investors tracking Eternal may focus on several operational indicators in the coming quarters:

  • Food-delivery order growth and profitability

  • Blinkit's NOV growth and store expansion

  • Quick-commerce contribution margins

  • Competitive intensity and promotional spending

  • Advertising revenue growth

  • District's user and merchant expansion

  • Adjusted EBITDA margins

  • Cash generation and capital allocation

  • Progress in AI-led operational efficiencies

Together, these metrics will provide a clearer picture of whether the company's growth is translating into sustainable profitability.

Market Outlook

Eternal's five-session rally and approximately 60 per cent recovery from its March low highlight renewed market interest in the company's growth and profitability story. The stock's move towards its October 2025 record high comes as management maintains its medium-term growth outlook and continues to expand across food delivery, quick commerce and the going-out ecosystem.

The key question for the market will be whether revenue growth, improving unit economics, advertising monetisation and operating leverage can continue to develop at a pace that supports the company's elevated valuation.

Blinkit's expansion, food-delivery profitability, District's scale-up and the contribution of advertising revenue are likely to remain among the most important operating indicators. At the same time, investors will need to monitor competitive intensity and the pace at which quick-commerce growth normalises as the store network becomes larger.

With the stock already significantly above its March low, future market performance is likely to remain closely linked to the company's ability to convert its expanding consumer ecosystem into consistent and sustainable earnings growth.
