Shares Surge More Than 100% From IPO Price as Investors Bet on Cloud, Data Centre and AI Infrastructure Growth
ESDS Software Services share price continued its strong post-listing rally on Monday, hitting the 20 per cent upper circuit as investors continued to accumulate the recently listed technology stock.
The shares had made a bumper debut on Friday, listing at a premium of more than 76 per cent over the initial public offering price. The stock subsequently extended its gains and traded more than 100 per cent above the issue price, reflecting strong investor interest in the company’s cloud-computing, data-centre and artificial intelligence infrastructure businesses.
According to the market data cited in the report, ESDS Software shares were trading at around ₹1,090.05, up ₹181.65 or 20 per cent.
ESDS Software Shares Open at Upper Price Band
On Monday, the stock opened at the upper price band of ₹1,074.65 on the BSE and continued to trade at that level during the initial part of the session.
At around 10:05 AM, buy orders for approximately 2.18 million shares were reported across the NSE and BSE combined.
The strong buying interest indicates that demand remained high even after the stock had already delivered substantial gains during its listing session.
However, a stock locked in the upper circuit can also experience sharp volatility once selling pressure increases or early investors begin booking profits.
Bumper Listing Gives Investors More Than 76% Gain
ESDS Software Services shares were listed on the National Stock Exchange on Friday at ₹757 per share, compared with the IPO issue price of ₹429.
This represented a listing premium of approximately 76.46 per cent.
On the BSE, the shares opened at ₹746.30, a gain of around 73.96 per cent over the issue price.
During the session, the stock touched ₹908.40, representing an increase of approximately 111.5 per cent from the IPO price.
The strong debut came after the company’s IPO received a massive response from institutional, non-institutional and retail investors.
Choice Broking Initiates Coverage With Buy Rating
The stock received further attention after Choice Broking initiated coverage on ESDS Software Services with a Buy rating.
The brokerage described ESDS as a potentially attractive listed opportunity for investors seeking exposure to India’s structural cloud, data-centre and AI infrastructure expansion.
According to Choice Broking, ESDS operates across multiple parts of the digital infrastructure ecosystem, including:
-
Cloud services
-
Managed infrastructure
-
Data-centre services
-
Computing capacity
-
AI infrastructure
The brokerage believes that the company’s full-stack capabilities could help it benefit from increasing demand for digital transformation and high-performance computing.
$1.25-Billion AI Contract Could Support Future Growth
One of the key factors highlighted by Choice Broking is ESDS Software’s $1.25 billion AI contract.
The brokerage believes the agreement could provide a significant new growth driver as demand for AI computing capacity expands.
The contract is expected to support the company’s future earnings trajectory, although its actual contribution will depend on execution, capacity expansion, customer commitments and the pace at which revenue is recognised.
Choice Broking said growth could be supported by:
-
Expansion of cloud and data-centre capacity
-
Higher monetisation of existing customers
-
Rising demand for AI infrastructure
-
Increased utilisation of infrastructure assets
-
Operating leverage from business expansion
The company’s ability to convert the contract into sustained revenue and profitability will remain a key factor for investors.
Brokerage Expects Strong Revenue and Profit Growth
Choice Broking expects ESDS Software’s revenue, EBITDA and profit after tax to grow at compound annual growth rates of approximately 120.9 per cent, 72.6 per cent and 81.3 per cent, respectively, between FY26 and FY29.
The estimates are based on continued momentum in the company’s core business and the expected ramp-up of AI infrastructure revenues.
The brokerage has valued the company at approximately 18 times FY28 estimated EV/EBITDA, translating into nearly 31 times FY28 forward price-to-earnings.
Based on this valuation framework, Choice Broking has assigned a target price of ₹1,550 per share.
The target indicates further potential upside from the stock’s reported trading levels. However, the brokerage also noted that successful execution and a faster ramp-up of the AI contract would be necessary to support further earnings and valuation upside.
Analysts Caution Against Chasing the Stock
Despite the positive brokerage outlook, some market observers have advised investors to exercise caution after the sharp rise in the share price.
Arun Kejriwal, founder of Kejriwal Research & Investment Services, said that chasing a stock after a steep rally may not be an appropriate investment strategy.
According to him, expectations regarding ESDS Software’s performance in FY27, FY28 and FY29 may already be reflected in the current market price.
He also pointed to questions surrounding the company’s agreement with an Australian company. Further clarity, he said, could emerge during the company’s conference call following the announcement of its June-quarter results.
The comments highlight the importance of separating the company’s long-term growth opportunity from the valuation investors are currently paying for that growth.
ESDS Software IPO Subscribed 135.88 Times
The company’s IPO was open for subscription from August 28 to September 1 and received an exceptionally strong response.
The issue received bids for approximately 1.67 billion shares against 12.35 million shares on offer, resulting in an overall subscription of around 135.88 times, according to NSE data.
The qualified institutional buyer category was subscribed approximately 261.51 times.
The non-institutional investor portion received subscription of around 192.94 times, while the retail investor portion was subscribed approximately 39.64 times.
The strong demand across investor categories indicated significant investor interest in the company before its listing.
₹720-Crore Fresh Issue to Fund Infrastructure Expansion
ESDS Software’s IPO was valued at approximately ₹720 crore and comprised an entirely fresh issue of shares.
The company plans to utilise the proceeds for purchasing and installing cloud-computing equipment and other infrastructure for its data centres.
The funds will also be used for general corporate purposes.
The fresh issue is expected to support the company’s capacity expansion plans. For cloud and data-centre businesses, investment in computing equipment, storage, networking, power and cooling infrastructure is essential to support future growth.
India’s Cloud and AI Infrastructure Market Expanding
India’s growing digital economy is creating strong demand for cloud services, data storage, cybersecurity, enterprise software and AI computing.
Businesses across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, government and technology are increasingly shifting workloads to cloud platforms.
At the same time, the rapid adoption of generative AI and other advanced applications is increasing demand for high-performance computing, data processing and specialised infrastructure.
ESDS Software’s exposure to these segments provides a potential structural growth opportunity. However, the company will need to continue investing in technology and infrastructure to remain competitive.
Key Risks for Investors
Valuation Risk
After the sharp post-listing rally, the stock’s valuation may leave limited room for disappointment. Any slowdown in earnings growth could result in a significant correction.
Contract Execution Risk
The company’s future performance will depend on the timely execution of its AI contract and the ability to convert the agreement into actual revenue and profits.
High Capital Expenditure
Cloud and data-centre businesses require substantial investment in equipment, power, cooling, connectivity and maintenance. Higher-than-expected capital expenditure could affect cash flows.
Customer Concentration
If a substantial portion of revenue depends on a limited number of customers or contracts, any delay, renegotiation or cancellation could affect financial performance.
Competitive Pressure
ESDS operates in a competitive industry that includes large technology companies, cloud-service providers and specialised data-centre operators.
Post-Listing Volatility
Stocks that rise sharply immediately after listing can experience significant volatility as early investors book profits and speculative activity increases.
What Investors Should Track
Investors should monitor the company’s upcoming quarterly results, management commentary and progress on the AI contract.
Other important factors include:
-
Revenue growth from the core cloud business
-
Data-centre capacity utilisation
-
EBITDA margins and operating leverage
-
Capital expenditure and cash flows
-
Customer additions and retention
-
Progress on AI infrastructure deployment
-
Any clarification regarding major customer agreements
-
Valuation compared with earnings growth
Market Outlook
ESDS Software Services is likely to remain in focus as investors assess its cloud, data-centre and AI infrastructure opportunity following its strong listing and continued rally.
The company’s long-term growth prospects are supported by increasing demand for digital infrastructure and the potential contribution from its large AI contract. However, the sharp rise in the share price means that a substantial portion of the expected growth may already be reflected in the valuation.
Investors should closely monitor quarterly earnings, contract execution, capital expenditure, cash flows and management commentary before taking fresh positions.
While the long-term opportunity remains significant, the stock’s near-term movement may continue to be influenced by listing momentum, liquidity and profit-booking. A disciplined approach to valuation and risk management will be important after the stock’s sharp post-IPO gains.
