Strong Growth Across Aerospace and Precision Engineering Businesses, ₹750-Crore QIP Signals Expansion Plans; Brokerages Remain Bullish on Long-Term Outlook

Shares of Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing Ltd surged nearly 9% in Tuesday's trading session after the company reported a strong set of earnings for the first quarter of FY27, driven by robust execution in its aerospace and precision engineering businesses. The upbeat financial performance, coupled with management's optimistic outlook and a proposed ₹750-crore Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), lifted investor sentiment and pushed the stock to a fresh 13-month high.

The stock climbed to an intraday high of ₹1,375 on the BSE before settling slightly lower, outperforming the broader market. Around 10:06 AM, Unimech was trading at ₹1,362, up about 8%, while the BSE Sensex was trading with marginal gains.

The rally marks a remarkable turnaround for the stock, which has nearly doubled from its 52-week low of ₹695.05 touched on March 30, 2026. Although the stock remains below its all-time high of ₹1,523.60 recorded in January 2025, the latest surge reflects renewed investor confidence in the company's long-term growth prospects.

Q1FY27 Financial Performance Exceeds Expectations

Unimech Aerospace delivered one of its strongest quarterly performances since listing, reporting healthy growth across revenue, operating profit and net earnings.

Financial Highlights

Particulars Q1FY27 YoY Growth
Revenue ₹107.6 crore 70.9%
EBITDA ₹39.3 crore 98.3%
EBITDA Margin 36.5% +510 bps
Profit After Tax ₹27.9 crore 45.7%

The sharp rise in revenue was primarily driven by stronger execution of aerospace tooling projects and increasing demand for precision-engineered components. Operating profitability improved significantly, with EBITDA nearly doubling compared to the same period last year, reflecting better operating leverage and an improved product mix.

Although margins moderated sequentially due to business mix and execution timing, they remained among the highest in the precision engineering sector.

Record Quarterly Revenue Reflects Growing Demand

Management stated that the company recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue, supported by expanding customer engagements across multiple high-growth industries.

According to the company, several strategic initiatives undertaken over the past year are beginning to yield results, including:

  • Successful integration of Hobel Bellows.

  • Higher contribution from the Precision Components & Assemblies business.

  • Increasing orders from aerospace customers.

  • Growing opportunities in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.

  • Strong traction from energy-sector clients.

These developments have broadened the company's addressable market while reducing dependence on a single business vertical.

Healthy Order Book Provides Revenue Visibility

Unimech's order book stood at ₹280 crore as of June 2026, equivalent to approximately one year's trailing revenue.

The company expects order inflows to remain healthy as several qualification programmes move into commercial production. Capacity utilisation is also expected to improve over the coming quarters, helping drive higher operational efficiencies.

Management believes existing customer relationships and ongoing discussions with global OEMs should support sustained order growth through FY27 and beyond.

₹750-Crore QIP to Fund Next Phase of Growth

One of the key announcements accompanying the quarterly results was the Board's approval to raise up to ₹750 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP).

The proposed fundraising is aimed at accelerating the company's long-term expansion strategy, including:

  • Increasing manufacturing capacity.

  • Expanding into new international markets.

  • Investing in advanced manufacturing technologies.

  • Pursuing strategic acquisitions.

  • Strengthening working capital.

The company believes these investments will enhance its competitive positioning in the global precision engineering industry.

Global Aerospace Demand Continues to Strengthen

Industry experts note that the global aerospace manufacturing cycle remains favourable as airlines continue to modernise fleets and aircraft manufacturers work to clear large order backlogs.

Demand for aircraft engines, structural components, specialised tooling and precision-engineered assemblies has remained robust, creating long-term opportunities for suppliers such as Unimech.

In addition to aerospace, the company is also benefiting from rising investments in semiconductor manufacturing and industrial automation, both of which require highly specialised precision components.

Strong Position in Global Precision Engineering

Unimech Aerospace has established itself as an integrated precision engineering solutions provider serving several technology-intensive industries.

Its capabilities include:

  • Precision machining

  • Complex fabrication

  • High-end welding

  • Build-to-print manufacturing

  • Build-to-specification solutions

  • Advanced testing and validation

  • Complex mechanical assemblies

The company supplies specialised tooling and engineering solutions for leading global aerospace platforms, including aircraft manufacturers and aero-engine programmes such as Airbus, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney and LEAP engines.

Its diversified engineering capabilities provide entry into industries where technical expertise, quality certifications and long customer qualification cycles create significant barriers to entry.

Brokerages Remain Positive on Long-Term Prospects

Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal Financial Services recently initiated coverage on Unimech Aerospace with a 'Buy' recommendation and a 12-month target price of ₹1,530.

The brokerage expects the company to deliver impressive earnings growth between FY26 and FY28, forecasting:

  • 74% CAGR in Revenue

  • 83% CAGR in EBITDA

  • 57% CAGR in Profit After Tax

According to the brokerage, growth will be supported by:

  • Expansion in aerospace tooling.

  • Rising demand for precision components.

  • Benefits from recent acquisitions.

  • Contributions from new joint ventures.

  • Operating leverage as capacity utilisation improves.

The brokerage also expects return ratios such as Return on Equity (RoE) and Return on Capital Employed (RoCE) to improve steadily over the next two financial years.

Risks Investors Should Watch

While the growth outlook remains encouraging, investors should remain mindful of certain business risks.

A significant portion of Unimech's revenue comes from the aerospace sector, making the company vulnerable to any slowdown in global aircraft production. The business also depends heavily on a relatively small number of large international customers, while export markets contribute a substantial share of overall revenue. Currency fluctuations, geopolitical uncertainties and delays in customer programmes could therefore impact future earnings.

The planned QIP, while supportive of long-term expansion, could also lead to equity dilution depending on the final issue size and pricing.
