According to officials, five diamonds with a combined weight of 1.22 carats were recovered after processing approximately 200 tonnes of bulk sample material extracted from the exploration area.

Among the discoveries were two gem-quality whitish diamonds weighing 0.19 carats and 0.06 carats, which are considered particularly significant by mining experts. The remaining stones included one yellowish non-gem diamond weighing 0.32 carats and two brownish non-gem diamonds weighing 0.59 carats and 0.06 carats.

Experts note that the recovery of gem-quality diamonds at such an early stage of exploration often serves as a strong indicator of a potentially larger diamond-bearing system underground.

The discovery follows a detailed exploration programme involving stream sediment sampling, geophysical surveys and nearly 500 metres of exploratory drilling.

To verify these findings, large quantities of material were extracted and transported to NMDC's diamond processing facility in Panna, Madhya Pradesh, where advanced processing techniques were used to recover diamonds from the ore.
